About Guardian Hands?

Guardian Hands Incorporated is a Virginia-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental abilities. Operating under the standards of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), we provide a comprehensive array of community and residential services.

  • 1. What is the "DD Waiver," and do you accept it?

    The Developmental Disability (DD) Waiver is a Virginia program that provides funding for various services to help individuals live in the community. Guardian Hands is a licensed provider for individuals who have been authorized for DD Waiver services through the state.

  • 2. How do I know if my loved one is eligible for your services?

    Generally, our residents are adults (18+) with a primary diagnosis of a developmental disability who have been cleared for residential services by their local Community Services Board (CSB). If you aren’t sure where you stand, we recommend contacting your local Support Coordinator.


  • 3. What is the difference between your Group Home and Supervised Living services?

    • Group Home Services: Provide 24/7 staffing and support within a community-based home. This is ideal for individuals who need consistent, around-the-clock assistance with daily tasks and safety.
    • Supervised Living: Offers a higher degree of independence. Support is scheduled based on the individual's specific needs, helping them manage their own home or apartment while still receiving guidance from our team.

  • 4. Can we tour a Guardian Hands home?

    Absolutely!

    We believe the best way to feel the "Guardian Hands difference" is to see it in person. Once a referral is initiated through your Support Coordinator, we are happy to schedule a private tour of our residential locations.


  • 5. How do I start the referral process?

    The first step is to speak with your CSB Support Coordinator. They will send a "Referral Packet" to us for review. Once we receive the packet, our clinical team will evaluate if our environment is the right fit for the individual's unique needs and goals.
